The status of the Iranian LGBT community is not a secret! The LGBT community have the least access to rights and freedoms in society. The LGBT population in Iran are not allowed to live the life that they wish to live and in many ways they are forced to live a very difficult life. When a member of this community leaves Iran to live abroad, even with consideration given to some of the freedoms that exists in the West, they are still oppressed by the patriarchal and misogynistic culture that dominates and they are pushed into the corners of society to live a life of isolation and secrecy. The LGBT community is an important part of our society and not only must they be protected from intimidation, marginalization, and isolation, but they must be allowed to live their life like any other citizen and to have their human right to free relationships.
In order for the LGBT community in Iran and abroad to access and enjoy their social, cultural, economic, and political rights as equal citizens, we must unite together in solidarity to struggle and defend the LGBT community. Together we must make sure all freedom lovers the world over will hear the voice of this community and to learn about their struggles and challenges in society. The pride festival in Stockholm is the voice of the Iranian LGBT community.
In relation to this, from July 28th until August 2nd, the Communist Youth Organization will be participating in the Stockholm pride festival to inform the public about the struggles and challenges of the Iranian LGBT community.
We will be located at 2 Östermalms- Idrottsplats Fiskartorpsvägen, from July 30th to the 1st of August after 6pm.
On the last day of the pride festival, on Saturday August 2nd, which has between 500 to 700 thousand participants, we will be located at “Mariatorget” from 12 am. We will defend the LGBT, the youth and Iranian women and we will display a positive, modern and joyful image of them. We invite all freedom lovers, equality seekers and those who are fighting for a humane society to join us to bring the voice of the Iranian LGBT community to world.
